We here at The Whipping Post must admit, we're a little choked up ourselves — choked up with relief, that is. One can only imagine the sheer existential dread that must accompany a college student's attempt to elevate 'Artsweek' to some grand, Pulitzer-worthy canon. Was it a week of interpretive dance recitals in the Arbor? Perhaps a groundbreaking exposé on the emotional plight of a forgotten ceramic pot in the art department's basement? The possibilities, however mundane, were endless, and we're sure each one was meticulously documented with all the gravitas of a Supreme Court ruling.

Now, with the 'Scenes of greatness through frames of a Nexus' era firmly behind us, one can hope that the esteemed Daily Nexus will pivot back to harder-hitting stories. You know, like which dining hall has the best Tater Tots, or the thrilling revelation that campus parking remains an unsolvable mystery. These are the pressing issues that truly shape the minds of tomorrow's leaders, not some self-indulgent farewell tour masquerading as profound cultural commentary.

We commend the departing editor for her valiant effort, however misguided, to infuse the campus with 'art.' Perhaps she can now move on to a career that truly leverages her unique talents, like curating the perfect artisanal toast menu or explaining the nuanced symbolism of a single-origin coffee bean. The world, and indeed the UCSB campus, will surely be a better, less artsy-fartsy place for it. The Whipping Post looks forward to a refreshing return to less 'greatness' and more actual campus news.
