The Whipping Post Take on Edhat
OILY MESS IN LA: ROADS OPEN, QUESTIONS NOT. WHO KNEW A PIPELINE WORKED THAT WAY?!
Those intrepid reporters at Edhat bravely informed us that, yes, oil and water still don't mix, and sometimes, things break when you hit them. Truly groundbreaking stuff.

Well, bless their little hearts, the keen investigative minds over at Edhat have delivered another hard-hitting exposé: roads near a recent oil spill have reopened! Who would've thought that after a big mess, eventually, the public might be allowed to drive through the general vicinity again? It's almost as if the powers-that-be finally got around to clearing up enough of their own regulatory ineptitude to let normal life resume. One almost expects a follow-up piece next week detailing how the sun rose yet again in the east.
Apparently, some unlucky 'telecommunications contractor' had a particularly bad day, mistaking a crude oil pipeline for... well, who knows what they thought it was. Perhaps they assumed it was a direct line to bureaucratic efficiency, which would explain the shock and subsequent gushing when they tapped into it. The 'Unified Command' swooped in, naturally, to assure us all that the immediate public safety — you know, that thing they're normally so keen to ignore — is now secure. Just not, perhaps, the long-term environmental safety, or the structural integrity of our infrastructure, or the collective IQ of those tasked with preventing these things.
One can only marvel at the sheer, unadulterated competence on display. A pipeline gets hit, oil goes everywhere, and the grand solution is to... reopen roads. It's a bit like declaring a patient cured because their fever broke, despite the fact they're still bleeding internally. But hey, at least our intrepid local news outlet is on the case, making sure we're all abreast of the most earth-shattering developments. We sleep soundly knowing such vigilant reporting is out there, meticulously documenting the obvious.
